FAQs About Creighton University

Is Creighton University Online?

Some of the most popular online schools stem from traditional, on-campus universities, and this includes Creighton University. Although it hosts many in-person programs at its campus in Omaha, Nebraska, it also offers a handful of undergraduate and graduate programs that are available 100% online. Additionally, Creighton offers nearly 30 professional development certificates and well over a dozen graduate certificates. Overall, 36% of students engage in at least some form of online learning at Creighton.

Is an Online Degree from Creighton University Legitimate?

Creighton is considered a legitimate university because it is an accredited school. This means that it's been vetted by a third-party agency to ensure it meets the national education standards regarding its instructors and the curriculums they teach. You can rest assured that every school featured on OnlineU is institutionally accredited. Specifically, Creighton is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, an institutional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

What Is Creighton University Best Known For?

Creighton is perhaps best known for its diversity of professional development programs — many of which are available 100% online. These degrees are often more specialized programs, such as Crisis Planning and Enterprise Communication Management for business professionals or Innovation and Design Thinking for entrepreneurs. By studying online, working professionals can continue their current responsibilities while studying new skills to advance their careers.

Which Degrees at Creighton Provide the Highest Earnings for Graduates?

College Scorecard, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, lists the highest paying degrees as those in the accounting field, where bachelor's students can expect to earn a median annual salary of around $70,236. Creighton offers a handful of finance and accounting programs students can take 100% online at the master's and graduate levels. For example, this includes the Master in Business Administration and Enterprise Risk Management Graduate Certificate

How Difficult Is It To Get Into Creighton?

According to College Scorecard data, Creighton falls within the national average of acceptance rates at 64%. This means it's just as difficult to get into as most other universities in the country. Another reason it may be easier to get into is that there are no minimum requirements for college entrance exam scores. This allows students who may have underperformed on their SAT or ACTs to apply without worry.

What Are the Admission Requirements for Creighton?

Students who apply to college don't always need to meet minimum GPA requirements. Creighton is one such university where this policy applies more broadly to undergraduate applicants. However, certain students, such as those applying to the College of Nursing, must have a C grade or better in chemistry to be considered for admission.

Follow these steps to apply:

  • Fill out a free online application. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
  • Submit official high school transcripts directly from the school.
  • Submit ACT or SAT scores.
  • Submit a personal essay

Rather than focusing on individual test scores or GPAs, Creighton looks at each application holistically and considers letters of recommendation and other achievements.

Degree: Nurse Practitioner (NP)

Creighton allows many great students to fail the program by way of an 80% exam score minimum. They are not concerned with how many students are unable to progress. They allowed 25-30% to fail this past fall. Students can return, but have to pay again! In addition, all completed work beyond exams does not count toward your grade if the 80% exam score is not achieved. So if you earn a B with exams and additional work, you may receive a C on your transcript. This program has not been supportive to students,... Read More

Creighton University's Jesuit values cultivate a tight knit community, which values well rounded students, who take rigorous classes, participate in extracurricular activities and volunteer both locally as well as internationally. I studied abroad for a semester in the Dominican Republic at Creighton's Institute for Latin American Concern (ILAC). Creighton's ILAC center provides opportunities for students to study (medicine, social justice, history, spanish) and live abroad on a short or long term... Read More

Degree: Organizational Leadership

Creighton University is a great choice for people who wish to return to school to complete their degree. The curriculum is challenging but the entire University staff and fellow classmates are very supportive. The online program allows me to balance work with school easily as I can complete the assignments at a time that is cohesive to my work and family's schedule. I am so happy that I returned to school and look forward to graduation ao that I can begin the Master's Program at Creighton.

Degree: Educational Leadership

As a career educator, I was somewhat reserved about participating in an online degree program; however, my experiences at Creighton were far and above more interactive and deeply personal than my three degrees earned in the traditional classroom from other private and public universities.
